Let’s talk about an uncomfortable topic, shall we?

Abortion.

I know that, as a male, my views will likely be seen as skewed, sexist, biased, less than pertinent.

However, and feel free to ‘x’ out of this at any time, I do care about children, our society, and truth.

Abortion, we will all agree, is defined as the ending of life of an unborn child/infant/fetus, intentionally, prior to natural or induced birth. Obviously, some unborn children die unintentionally, for many reasons, but that’s an issue for another time.

In 1973, the justices of the Supreme Court of the US heard the case known as “Roe vs. Wade”. In the proceedings, several “scientists” were given the chance to speak to this issue. I was 14 years old at the time, but I recall how upset my parents were when they learned that the SCOTUS had voted in favor of a so-called “right” of people to end the lives of yet-to-be-born children. Supposedly, this was the solution to the major problem of young women trying to end their pregnancies via extremely dangerous means (coathangers come to mind!)

Two problems:

1: The information provided to the Supreme Court in 1973 was wrong. It was the “Great Lie.”

As someone who has been through two years of anatomy classes, I can truthfully tell you that the inside of the uterus is actually outside/external of/to the body. The unborn child, or “fetus”, is attached to the mother’s body, and dependent on the mother, but is not a part of the mother’s body.

Just like the inside of your GI tract/intestine is actually outside of your body, as is the inside of your bladder, so is the interior of the uterus. The unborn child is attached to the mother, and certainly dependent upon the mother, but is separate from the mother. The fetus creates the placenta, the amniotic membrane (sac), and the amniotic fluid. Which is why expectant mothers should say, “My baby’s water just broke!”, not “My water just broke!”

So much of what we have seen in the last 51 years has been about the woman’s right to control her own body. I get that, and fully support this right. However, when you realize that the not-yet-born child is not really a part of her/his mother’s body, the perspective changes.

Like, a lot!!

2) The major problem has always been the absence of male sexual responsibility. We guys want to have the freedom to be sexual with anyone willing (and at times, shamefully, unwilling) to have sex with us, but we don’t want to hear about it the next morning, or a couple months from now when the female discovers she is actually pregnant.

This is, has been, and continues to be, the greatest problem in our society when it comes to sexuality and parental responsibility. When the SCOTUS overturned Roe v. Wade several months ago, it was clear to many of us who were a bit more aware of things than many, that several cans of worms had just been torn open.

In my opinion, the best long-term solution to this problem is as follows:

  1. Force, under penalty of imprisonment, any male named by a female who is now documented to be pregnant, to give up a blood sample that will either show genetic proof of fatherhood, or lack thereof.
  2. Force any male shown to be the father of an expected or recently born child to provide an ample monetary provision monthly. Failing such, after a much shorter time period than is currently in place, would result in immediate imprisonment.

I know that much of the above could be incendiary, but I am not all that concerned about that. I just believe that none of us has the right to end the life of an unborn child, except for the case of, for example, a tubal pregnancy, and other rare cases, such as a pregnancy that came from a proven incident of rape or rape/incest.
